Carl Beckwith joined the faculty of Beeson Divinity School in 2007. He teaches courses in church history and doctrine, focusing especially on patristic, medieval, and early Reformation theology. He is most recently the author of The Holy Trinity, volume 3 of the Confessional Lutheran Dogmatics series (Luther Academy, 2016) and editor of Martin Luther’s Basic Exegetical Writings (Concordia Publishing House, 2017). Beckwith is an ordained minister in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. He and his wife, Julie, have two daughters.

Co-founded Urban Impact Ministries (New Orleans) and 2nd Mile Ministries (Jacksonville). Father of five: Zac (’79), Nic (’83), Luke (’85), Steven (’88) and Sarah (’92). Grandfather of nine! Hobbies: any recreational sport, reading, traveling, Scrabble.

He hosts the Gospelbound podcast and has written and contributed to many books, most recently Timothy Keller: His Spiritual and Intellectual Formation. He has published with the New York Times and The Washington Post and offered commentary for CNN, Fox News, NPR, BBC, ABC News, and PBS NewsHour. He is a member of Iron City Church in Birmingham, Alabama, and he is an adjunct professor at Beeson Divinity School, where he also co-chairs the advisory board.
